World Book Week Celebrations 📚

6th Mar 2026

This week our school celebrated World Book Week, and there was a wonderful buzz throughout the school as pupils took part in a wide range of book-themed activities. The week focused on celebrating reading, sharing stories, and encouraging a love of books across all age groups.

Pupils enjoyed buddy reading sessions, where older and younger children paired up to read together. These sessions gave everyone the opportunity to share favourite stories, practise their reading, and enjoy books in a relaxed and supportive way.

Creativity was also a big part of the celebrations. Children designed bookmarks and book covers, created giant book cover displays, and explored storytelling by making their own comics and class books. There were also opportunities to write book reviews, learn about different authors, and take part in small group reading activities.

A highlight of the week was the book swap, where pupils exchanged books with one another and discovered new stories to enjoy. The excitement continued with a mystery book exchange, adding an element of surprise to the reading celebrations.

The week finished with a fantastic dress-up day, where pupils came to school dressed as their favourite book characters. It was wonderful to see so many imaginative costumes and to hear children talking about the books that inspired them.

World Book Week was a great success, and it was lovely to see such enthusiasm for reading across the school. 📖
