3rd Class Celebrate Success at Feis Maitiú!

There was great excitement in the school this morning as both 3rd classes, Ms O’Connor’s and Mr Bourke’s, boarded the bus to Cork City on their way to perform on stage in Fr. Matthew Hall. The children had been working hard in preparation for their performance in the Flageolet Bands competition at Feis Maitiu, and the anticipation was high as they set off for the city.

Both 3rd classes performed together as one band, playing two beautiful, contrasting pieces — The Sally Gardens and The Kerry Polka. Their weeks of practice were clear to see as they performed with confidence, skill and great musicality.

A large group of Ballinora parents travelled to support the children, cheering and encouraging them as they took to the stage. The children also really enjoyed watching other bands perform, making the day a wonderful learning and cultural experience for everyone involved.

The children are to be highly commended for their excellent behaviour in the theatre. They showed fantastic teamwork, cooperation and focus throughout the day, and delivered an amazing performance on stage.

The adjudicator, Donal McCrisken, was full of praise, complimenting the group on their excellent timekeeping and fantastic musical performance. He also remarked on how impressive it was that 48 students performed together so successfully and in perfect time.

We are incredibly proud to announce that 3rd Class were awarded first place and took home The Sarah O’Donovan Memorial Perpetual Cup — a wonderful achievement and a day the children will remember for a long time.

Well done to all involved!
